The VMAs were yesterday! Did you catch it? I watched the encore telecast on MTV Asia at 9 PM, even after seeing all the videos and hearing all the news before that.
I shall talk about the performances.
Lady Gaga opened the VMAs with Applause. It was less weird and shocking (what else could shock us after she wore a meat dress and performed with blood all over her??) and she changed into about 5 different outfits with different wigs as well. The whole time I was just laughing at her wigs and hoping they would drop HAHAHA! Her final outfit, the seashell bikini with her crazy hair, was kinda from her Applause video. I don't know how to feel. It's a lot more normal than a meat dress or a bloody outfit, but...
The second performance was by Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar. Not a fan. Miley started off the item but twerking with giant teddy bears (seriously? that's the best idea you've got?) before stripping down to her underwear and twerking with Robin Thicke on Blurred Lines (oh god). It was extremely disturbing, to say the least. Thicke then performed Give It 2 U with 2 Chainz and Lamar.
Kanye West was next, with his song Blood on the Leaves.
Justin Timberlake then performed a medley of 7 songs including Take Back the Night, SexyBack, Cry Me A River before saying "you asked for it!" and 'N Sync just floated up from below the stage. They performed a short medley of Gone, Girlfriend and Bye Bye Bye, before the rest of the group descended below the stage. Timberlake then continued with Suit &Tie and Mirrors.
Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, Mary Lambert and Jennifer Hudson performed Same Love. The video for Same Love won the Best Video with a Social Message award! I love the song and the video, it's so meaningful and beautiful!
Drake followed up with Hold On, We're Going Home and Started from the Bottom, before Bruno Mars took the stage with Gorilla.
Finally, Katy Perry closed the awards show with the debut live performance of her new single, ROAR, near the Brooklyn Bridge! (This was actually what I was waiting for the whole show!) It was AMAZING, loved it so much!! So much energy and all the dance moves and rope-skipping (yes she has got some skills)! HAHA

Which performances did you like the most? Which award winner did you think should not have won?
I took this screenshot of Taylor Swift and Ellie Goulding at the VMAs! Ellie looks so pretty!!
A pity was that Britney Spears was not present at the VMAs this year. Some even said that VMAs are nothing without Britney. I totally agree! Remember her iconic performance of I'm a Slave 4 U at the 2001 VMAs? (Yes the one with the snake!). That was incredible! Not forgetting the Madonna and Britney kiss at the 2003 VMAs, exactly 10 years ago! Wow.
Katy Perry is releasing a song for preview ahead of PRISM (but NOT the second single) and it's titled Dark Horse, and features Juicy J. It was one of the 2 songs that Katy let fans votes to hear, in collaboration with Pepsi, the other being Walking On Air. It's out 17 Sep (the same sacred day that Britney's countdown ends)!
Ellie Goulding's new album re-release, HALCYON DAYS, was just released yesterday! Get it on iTunes now! I can't wait to receive my signed copy!
